What a weekend at Rossie Field and what a community we have at the Mystic Little League. Last night the playoffs began with the #1 seed Dominos taking on the #4 seed Mystic Cycle and #2 seed Allied taking on the #3 seed Dinoto. If you were looking to be entertained Rossie was the place to be and the families, friends and other little leaguers who showed up in support saw two thrilling one run games. On Rossie 1, Domino’s held off a Cycle rally in the bottom of the 6th and secured the 7-6 win. On Rossie 2, Dinoto entered the bottom of the 6th with a 3-0 lead but had some miscues that allowed Allied to gain the victory with 4-3 win and earn the right to play Domino’s in the championship game. In the championship game today, Carson Wheeler got things started for Domino’s with a triple that drove 2 runs in. Seth Ballou was again outstanding going 2-2 with a triple and RBI. As was Nick Yevoli who went 2-3 with 2 RBI. Maddox Salemma pitched 4 innings of no hit baseball to secure the win for Dominos 10-0 and earn the Mystic Little League Stratedia Championship Trophy! Dominos had dominated the league all season and while they earned the right to be called champions they won all year long with great sportsmanship and class. Congratulations to the Domino’s players and coaches and thank you to the board, coaches, players and all the volunteers who contributed to this years Majors season.#mysticlittleleague #littleleague #baseball #dominos #stratedia #mysticct #fortheloveofthegame

Thursday night at Rossie featured a game with a team trying to keep itself in the conversation and a team that has continued to dominate everyone all season long.
On Rossie 2, Chelsea Groton got off to a hot start against Mystic Cycle. Jake Chavis, Nico Ross and Nolan Trimarchi with a huge double we’re solid behind the plate. Parker Chappel and Nico Rose combined to pitch a great game for Chelsea. The music man, Figueroa-Bayne led Chelsea in the field and at the plate it was Nick Caseki and Parker Chappel making big things happen for Chelsea giving them a 9-3 win.
On Rossie 2, Dominos continued it’s dominance with gun slinger Seth Ballou who kept Dinoto on their heals all night long. While Ballou chipped in a great performance, his teammate Nick Yevoli was masterful behind the plate. The play of the game came in 4th as Dinoto hitter Cam Bibby hit a bullet in an area that appeared to be a gap but Domino’s shortstop Maddox Salemma made a great stab it on and turned it into a double play. Dinoto starting pitcher Isiah Polen continued to make a name for himself delivering a strong pitching performance against the most difficult team in the league. Action continues Friday night at 5:30 as Cycle takes on Domino’s.

Last night, Dinoto fell victim 12-2. In a game that was close through 4 saw Allied pull away with a series of hits to shallow right field just out of everyone’s reach in the last two innings. Allied was so stellar in the field with a great pitching display by Brady Volpe and Kobie Sharpe that featured a beautifully executed double play by Mark LaPietra, Eddie Hedde and Jayce Chapman.

For Cycle, Van Russo and Jordan Westrich each led had two hits leading cycling at the plate.

Last night, the fans in attendance at Rossi were treated to an epic battle between Allied and Dinoto that featured a little bit of everything.
It was a back and forth slugfest that came down to the bottom of the 7th and with two outs and the bases loaded Mark LaPietra struck out Thomas Hamilton but it was a passed ball and with a heads up play Hamilton ran to first and was safe allowing Cam Bibby to score and Dinoto to walk off with the win!
Standing out for Allied defensively was Kobe Sharpe on the mound and behind the plate. Mark LaPietra made a tough catch late in the game off a laser shot by Jordan Horan to spoil a Dinoto scoring opportunity. Brady Volpe kept the game close with two innings off solid pitching and Jayce Chapman was stellar behind the plate and made a great catch in the 5th to rob Bibby off an extra base hit with the bases loaded. At the plate, LaPietra had a huge hit in first which started things off for Allied up 1-0. Ed Hedde and Chapman also contributed at the plate. A big shout out to head coach David Volpe and his staff for their in game strategy juggling pitchers and choosing to walk several Dinoto hitters rather then let them hit in some big situations which all paid off for Allied.
For Dinoto, Jordan Horan kept the game close for Dinoto with 3 innings of solid work on the mound. Gabe Cornell came in for 2.1 solid innings of relief and left the game with the lead. Isiah Polen came in in relief of Cornell and relinquished the lead but settled in nicely to secure the W for Dinoto. The unsung hero for Dinoto was Darius Jones behind the plate getting down and dirty keeping the game close. Thomas Carpenter shined for Dinoto on the base paths and Alex Nowak reached base 4 times via walks.
Action continues tonight at Rossie where Cycle takes on Chelsea. Tomorrow at 2pm two games will be play. On Rossie 1, Cycle plays Allied and on Rossie 2 Dominos battles Chelsea.
